He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 10th Hussars. He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Rose, of Hardwick House, Whitchurch, Oxfordshire on 20 April 1913. He fought in the First World War and died in action.
