From Wikipedia

Sir Tom Shebbeare, KCVO, is Director of Charities to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

Shebbeare was educated at Malvern College and the University of Exeter, of which he was made an honorary LLD in 2005.

He joined the UK branch of World University Service in 1973, an international development agency specialising in refugee resettlement. In 1975, he became General Secretary of the British Youth Council before moving, in 1980, to the permanent staff of the Council of Europe. In 1985, he became Executive Director of the European Youth Foundation (a Council of Europe institution).

He then was recruited to head The Prince's Trust as its first full-time Director, in 1988. Upon the incorporation of the Trust in 1999, the position was renamed Chief Executive. In 2003 he left the Prince's Trust, being succeeded by Martina Milburn, to join the Office of HRH the Prince of Wales as head of its new Charities office. The area of responsibility of the Charities Foundation encompasses the development and good governance of the sixteen operational charities of which Shebbeare is Founder or President.

Sir Tom is a Non-Executive Director of In Kind Direct (UK), UK Skills, Queens College (London) and The Nations Trust (South Africa) and a trustee of the StratReal Foundation.

The great uncle of Shebbeare's father was Robert Haydon Shebbeare who won the Victoria Cross for bravery.

Shebbeare was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2003.
